29-Inch Wheel (29ers)

Surly ECR
$2,175.00
What does ECR mean? Anything you want it to. Go camping, ride the Divide Trail, disappear into the woods, and conquer any road. Surly's ECR is a super capable bike that's outfitted to explore wherever you point the front wheel. The heart of the ECR are the wheels, with wide Surly Rabbit Hole rims wrapped in 3-inch wide Surly Knard tires. Fat tires mean smooth-rolling traction, stability to spare, and just a touch of suspension to get you over the roughest terrain. Surly's requisite chromoly tubing damps road buzz and provides a nimble, responsive ride over any surface. Plus, mounts for bottles, fenders, racks, and trailers ensure you can bring along everything you'll need. The wide-range Shimano drivetrain ensures that you'll get over every hill and pass — even with all your gear — and Avid disc brakes provide all-weather, all-terrain stopping power.
Surly Karate Monkey
$1,749.00 - $1,975.00
Imagine if a martial arts master had primate dexterity and was made of steel. You've now conceptualized the Surly Karate Monkey. The Monkey is versatile, capable of running skinny tires or massive treads, suspension or rigid forks, and while it's capable of rocking gears, it brings its "A-Game" to the singlespeed scene. The strong chromoly frame and fork ride silky smooth, handling any terrain beneath your wheels and the short chainstays make for a very lively ride. Meanwhile, the tough 29-inch WTB wheels and wide Maxxis tires trounce anything in their way and the drivetrain is powered by stout Truvativ cranks. Plus, the wide Salsa bars give you Kung Fu leverage to complement your singlespeed style and the Avid discs reign things in.
Surly Krampus Ops
$1,849.00
One part fat bike, one part 29er, and two parts awesome, Surly's Krampus rolls fast, holds speed, and devours corners. Surly built the frame and fork with chromoly and gave the frame a long top tube and short chainstays, so it's playful, smooth, versatile, and durable. The 29 x 3-inch Knard tires on 50mm Surly Rabbit Hole rims are what make this bike truly special. These big tires offer increased traction, incredible float, and reduce the need for suspension because the large volume is plenty to smooth the trail. You'll also get a Shimano Zee single-ring crankset, a Shimano rear derailleur for crisp shifts, and Avid BB7 brakes to give this guy some trail manners.

Surly Karate Monkey Singlespeed
$1,199.00 - $1,550.00
The Karate Monkey helped set the standard for 29er geometry. While its tucked-in rear wheel keeps it nimble and maneuverable, its lack of shifting componentry keeps the bike simple — and the rider filled with a cathartic rage. With a frame and fork made of custom-designed Surly CroMoly “’Natch” steel, the Karate Monkey delivers a resilient, lively, durable ride. The Karate Monkey frame has recently been updated to include features like internal dropper post routing, a new tubeset that uses the same trumpet tubes found on their Instigator 2.0, and a slight tweak in geometry that is more progressive and trail oriented. Surly Karate Monkey Singlespeed Frameset
$599.00 - $675.00
The Karate Monkey was one of the first production 29ers. It put the 29? platform in front of a lot of people at a price within reach of many a bike nerd. Since then, 29” has become a full-blown category, with entire bike companies dedicated to the platform. In contrast to the old standard 26” wheels, 29? wheels have unique benefits: delivering increased traction, smoothing out terrain, carrying inertia, and generally fitting tall riders better. The Karate Monkey uses a horizontal dropout with a derailleur hanger spaced to what we call Gnot-Boost spacing. 10 x 135mm QR, 12 x 142, or 12 x 148 Boost will all work in the Karate Monkey frame. The frame uses a 44mm headtube for broad fork compatibility and is ED coated for an added layer of internal protection. The Karate Monkey SS is the sensei for all of your single speed sensations.
